On Friday, Graciela had only a half day at work. She called her son, Mateo, and asked if he would like to take a walk. They walked along the lake and talked about his week at school. The water was calm, and the sky was clear.

Near the shore, they saw a farmer with a young calf. Mateo asked if he could touch it, and the farmer said yes. The calf licked the palm of his hand, and Mateo laughed.

On the way home, they stopped at a small store for groceries. Graciela bought fresh salmon for dinner and eggs for breakfast. That evening, they cooked the salmon and listened to folk music. After dinner, Mateo drew a picture of the calf with chalk on the sidewalk. Before bed, Graciela said they should take another walk next Friday.
