A Lesson on Object Pronouns

Focus: me, you, him, her, it, us, them — after verbs and prepositions.

Story: The Community Potluck

Our neighborhood center planned a potluck. Ms. Rivera organized it and asked volunteers to bring food. “Can you help us set up?” she asked. Luis said, “I’ll bring drinks. Please remind me tomorrow.”

On Saturday, Priya arrived early. I thanked her for the extra plates. “No problem,” she said. “The new neighbor is shy. I invited him and told him that everyone is friendly.”

When the music started, my little speaker wasn’t loud. Sam fixed it and showed us how to connect Bluetooth. “If the children ask questions, answer them patiently,” he added.

At the end, Ms. Rivera thanked everyone. “You made this event wonderful. I appreciate you,” she said. We stacked chairs, washed pans, and took leftovers home. Community events like this connect us.
