Subject vs. Object

Subject: I, you, he, she, it, we, they
Object: me, you, him, her, it, us, them
After prepositions use object: for her, to them.

Compound subjects/objects: “Tom and I went…”, “between you and me”.

Quick Tips

Short answers use subject form: Who called?She did.
Be verb links to subject: It is I (formal). Everyday English prefers It’s me.
Commands omit subject: Help me. (object after the verb)
