Quick Reference

Be strict with punctuation; base verbs after do/does/did.

Present vs. Progressive

Simple Present: habit/fact → She works.
Present Continuous: now/temporary → She is working.

Past vs. Past Continuous

Simple Past: finished → They left.
Past Continuous: background/ongoing → They were leaving.
When + SP interrupts PC; While + PC + PC.

Gerunds

-ing as a noun: subject, object, after prepositions: Reading is fun.
Common verbs + gerund: enjoy, avoid, admit, recommend.

Negatives/Questions

Use do/does/did + not + base; questions: Do/Does/Did + subject + base?
With be: questions/negatives do not use do/does/did.
